Authentic Beach Paradise

Our accommodation for 2 nights in Port Barton … all for us πŸ™‚

Traveling throughout Palawan we discovered a quiet little seaside town called Port Barton. It is half way between Puerto Princessa and El Nido, and is easily missed by many due to a bumpy road.

“Port Barton is what we imagined El Nido to be like years ago – quiet, with more of a local feel.”

We stayed at what became our favourite accommodation in Palawan – Villa Marguerita. Located right on the waterfront, with our room having the best view of the ocean and giving us prime location to fall asleep to the sound of the waves. We left the bi-fold doors to the balcony open so when we woke we could watch the sunrise without lifting our heads from the pillow.

“We found ourselves in a classic clichΓ© paradise, straight out of a movie but happening to us in real life!”

The owner Mal was very accommodating. (He also owns β€˜Gilligans’ another holiday home a short boat ride from Port Barton on a semi private beach) Perfect if you want something more private or had extra time in the area. Unfortunately, this time around we were only had 2 nights to spend, on our next visit to paradise we know we will need longer.

Villa Marguerita provided the perfect relaxed atmosphere we needed after our hectic travel schedule. It was a time to recharge our biological batteries and no sooner had we arrived, we felt right at home. The authentic villa has the flavour combination of rustic-luxury. Situated right in the centre of town and walking distance to some great restaurants and bars or tour agencies.

They have an in-house bar/restaurant to enjoy a few beverages or a meal while watching the sunset after an unforgettable day touring the islands or getting involved in kayaking and paddle boarding. Although we never got the chance, the volleyball net stretched across the lawn and a small playground sell tails of fun for different ages.

“In Port Barton electricity is only on from 5pm to 12am, although at the Villa they have solar panels, providing power when the rest of the town is without.”

The villa accommodates up to 8 people with 3 bedrooms. We slept in the second story suite with private ensuite and balcony. This was the master bedroom and really felt like it, when you looked out from the balcony it feels as if your kingdom of paradise lies below. 2 double rooms and a lounge area on the lower floor make the accommodation perfect for families, couples or small groups looking for a break. The friendly staff can also help with booking any island hopping tours and any advice on the local activities.

We 100% recommend staying at this holiday house for a true authentic feel, it is a great place to relax and unwind while also discovering some of the more hidden gems in Palawan. It was the perfect place to finish our Philippines trip and we look forward to our return one-day.
